The exhibition “Queermuseu — Cartographies of Difference in Brazilian Art” was much more than an art show. After being banned in Porto Alegre, its restaging at the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage carried the weight and force of a fight for freedom, inclusion, and diversity—values that are part of LD Studio’s DNA. That’s why we joined Diana Joels in a volunteer effort that went beyond technical lighting.
We created a full sensory journey: the path to the exhibition was lit in an uncomfortable green, representing the discomfort of not being able to be who you truly are. The façade of the stable building was bathed in pink tones to symbolize welcome and enchantment. Inside the exhibition, the lighting was precise and respectful, ensuring every piece could be seen in its entirety, free of interference or shadows. This project was about more than lighting spaces—it was about lighting ideas.
