Copacabana Palace Theater

Lighting the Copacabana Palace Theater was an exercise in quiet elegance. Our goal was to reveal the beauty of the architecture and interiors while keeping the lighting itself virtually invisible, a design that serves the space without ever competing with it. To achieve this, we combined the latest lighting technologies with a restrained approach: warm, diffuse illumination, carefully focused accents on key architectural elements, and a layered visual hierarchy that creates depth and drama with effortless subtlety.

The project also inspired the creation of a custom luminaire: the Amazonite Wall Sconce, designed in collaboration with architect Ivan Rezende for the theater’s private boxes. With its timeless design and natural Brazilian stone detailing, it embodies the philosophy behind every LD Studio project, where technical precision and craftsmanship come together in the service of enduring elegance.
