Novo Ambiente Store

Novo Ambiente occupies a building originally designed by Paulo Mendes da Rocha, the renowned Brazilian modernist architect and Pritzker Prize laureate. The renovation, led by architect Ivan Rezende, honored the integrity of the original design. In collaboration with OMstudio Lighting, our role was to bring the same philosophy to the lighting design: to revitalize without replacing, and to modernize without erasing.

At the heart of the project is Kelving Lab technology, which dynamically adjusts color temperature throughout the day to emulate the changing qualities of natural daylight within a space that receives varying levels of sunlight. The original honeycomb diffuser ceiling was carefully preserved and retrofitted with a homogeneous, high-performance lighting system, maintaining the building’s original aesthetic while significantly enhancing its visual comfort and lighting performance.
